THE COMPANYOur client is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange and it has both manufacturing and trading arms. Its clients include major European brands and worldwide retailers. The company has a large division that caters to European customers. This division employs designers in Europe, Hong Kong and New York to develop product ranges for its clients, who then select and place their label on our client's designs and garments. Some of the brands and retailers are very trendy while other brands provide business attire for more mature consumers. The garments are priced in the high range where quality standards are high and order volumes small. Our client employs over 400 workers in its Shenzhen plant, which develops patterns and samples. Some of the production is outsourced to factories in China, India and Bangladesh. The company is currently seeking a senior executive to head up the operations.
THE POSITION - Vice President
Based in Hong Kong and reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Senior Vice President - Operations will manage the Operations Team and be responsible for representing the operational lead in different countries. Two Operation Managers report to the Senior Vice President and these managers oversee pattern makers, pattern graders, technicians, sample room supervisors and production supervisors. He/She will work closely with Chief Operating Officer regarding strategic planning as well as with the functional heads of other departments such as design, fabric purchasing, merchandising and logistics.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide executive leadership to increase the effectiveness and scale of the operation.
- Develop and implement operational guidelines, procedures and standards.
- Supervise the heads in aligning the company's plans, objectives and targets.
- Handle profit sharing analysis, salary reviews and costing allocation.
- Prepare, review and consolidate the annual budget analysis.
- Provide logistics and administration support.
- Deal with government officials in China.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSThe ideal candidate have extensive experience in the manufacturing industry with in-depth knowledge about the production processes including at least 10 years in a managerial role with a record of progressing responsibility.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS- A University Degree, Master's Degree is desirable.
- Degree / Diploma in Management, Finance, Business Operations, and Supply Chain Management. Qualification in Accounting is a plus.
- Knowledgeable about China's legal requirements in terms of labor law, tax, legislation and corporate compliance.
- Strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent negotiation, planning and communication skills.
- Able to deal with all levels of people tactfully.
- Fluent spoken and written English and Mandarin is a must. Ideally, he/she also speaks Cantonese.
- Result-oriented, ambitious, dynamic, self-motivated and must be a team player.
- Knowledgeable about social compliance requirements related to garment manufacturing in China.
- Financially literate being able to use accounting reports to plan and to strategize regarding the businesses positioning as well as able to analyze budgets and able to do projections.
