THE COMPANYOur client established an office in Shenzhen two years ago to source and manage furniture product development. It also has an office in Hong Kong that primarily handles invoicing and payments. Due to the increasing growth in the business, a new role has been created to assist the Managing Director in running the day-to-day functions primarily on the finance and operations.
THE POSITION - Operations Director
Working in both the Hong Kong and Shenzhen offices, the successful candidate will report to the Managing Director who is based in the United States. He/She will oversee finance (tax, budgets, treasury, and export documentation), human resources management, information technology, administration and logistics while his/her peer will be responsible for engineering, sourcing and quality assurance. The successful candidate will visit key suppliers to communicate the company's policies regarding payments and operating procedures for shipping and logistics. He /She will determine the means of reducing costs and working more efficiently while building relationships with relevant government officials.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES- Responsible for supporting the U.S. based accounting operations in functions such as management and statutory reporting, budgeting, taxation and treasury.
- Prepare financial analysis for decision making purposes.
- Prepare an annual budget for the office.
- Implement effective administrative, financial and personnel management systems and processes for the company to ensure sound business practices.
- Responsible for general administration works including IT and legal issues.
- Responsible for operation and logistic functions including production order follow up, WIP tracking, shipping, customs and settlement.
- Deal with government officials including customs officials and taxation officials.
- Make recommendations to the Board of Directors about office operations in China.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSBeing a good administrator, the ideal candidate is a well-rounded businessperson with the acumen necessary to judge and analyze business issues. The ideal candidate has worked in a sourcing office in China although candidates who have worked in a manufacturing plant in China are also targeted for this post.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS- At least 15 years of solid working experience.
- Possesses a University degree from a well-respected tertiary institution.
- CPA or HKSA are helpful.
- Ability to uncover any financial irregularities is required.
- Familiar with the China laws on customs, taxation, and labor regulations.
- Good knowledge of OEM purchasing from PRC factories. China business knowledge is essential, especially in the areas of declaration and exports.
- Good command of English, Putonghua and Cantonese.
- Possess strong leadership, good analytical and communication skills.
- Very independent, hands-on and is able to work under pressure.
- Tactful and diplomatic when dealing with Government officials and internal staff.
- Willing to work in Shenzhen for three to four days per week and in Hong Kong for one to two days per week.
