Our client is a reputable US retailer owning a number of high fashion labels. Their brands and quality are highly recognized in the market. An exciting and challenging opportunity is now open for an experienced and senior fabric professional, who will head up the global fabric team and join as a senior management member.

THE POSITION - Raw Material Director (Confidential)

Reporting directly to an expatriate Managing Director in Hong Kong, the Fabric Director will work closely with buyers and designers in the United States and manage their needs. He/She will head up the fabric team in the Far East with the responsibilities of Textiles Technology, Color, Sourcing and Development. He/She will oversee all functions for fabric and raw materials for the whole corporation.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Key responsibilities include trouble shooting & team development.
  • Direct the strategic planning on raw materials for the brands.
  • Identify and select appropriate mills.
  • Fabric Development.
  • Ensure all technical requirements of new materials.
  • Quality Management.
  • Improve suppliers' performance by using scorecard measurement.
  • Deliver cost savings and efficiency.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS


SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Sound educational background in Textiles Technology / Manufacturing.
  • Minimum 15 years experience in the relevant area, with not less than 5 years of which in similar position.
  • A strong leader and a change agent who can make right judgments.
  • Good communication skills & People skills in coaching and motivating team members.
  • Good commercial sense and is knowledgeable in mills and the vertical set-ups.
  • Strong networking with fabric mills and great negotiation skills.
  • Team player, problem solver, and proactive thinker.
  • Exposure in European fabric will be an advantage.
